If you’ve been looking for somewhere to train Hyrox on Koh Samui, you’ve found it. Lamai Fitness is an accredited Hyrox Training Club — one of the few on the island — and we run dedicated Hyrox classes six days a week. Whether you’re prepping for your first race, chasing a PB, or you’ve never heard of Hyrox and just want a brutally effective full-body workout, you’re welcome here. What actually is Hyrox?

Hyrox is a fitness race. Simple as that. You run 1km, then do a functional workout station, then run another 1km, then another station — eight times total. The stations are: 1,000m SkiErg, 50m sled push, 50m sled pull, 80m burpee broad jump, 1,000m rowing, 200m farmers carry, 100m sandbag lunges, and 100 wall balls. With a 1km run between each one. It sounds brutal, and it is. But here’s why people love it: the movements aren’t complicated. There’s nothing high-skill that takes months to learn. You don’t need to be a gymnast or an Olympic lifter. You just need to be fit, strong and stubborn enough to keep going. There’s no time cap either, so you go at your own pace. And if you’re not ready to do it solo, the doubles format lets you split the stations with a partner.

Classes at Lamai Fitness

We run Hyrox-specific classes Monday to Friday at 5:30pm and Saturdays at 9:00am. Every session is coached, and we rotate through different formats to build all the qualities you need on race day: Hyrox Engine — Conditioning-focused. Running, SkiErg, rowing, wall balls. This is where you build the aerobic base and the mental toughness to keep moving when everything’s telling you to stop. Hyrox Strength — Heavier work. Sled pushes, sled pulls, farmers carries, lunges. Building the raw power and muscular endurance that separates a good time from a great one. Hyrox SIM — Race-day simulation. You’ll run through the full format or chunks of it at race pace. This is where you learn how to manage your energy across all eight rounds instead of blowing up at station four. Hyrox Recovery — Active recovery session. Mobility, stretching, light movement. Because you can’t train hard six days a week without looking after your body.

Our facility

We’ve got a dedicated outdoor Hyrox training area kitted out with everything you need — sleds, SkiErg, rowers, wall ball targets, sandbags, farmers carry handles, and plenty of space to run. It’s not a makeshift setup in the corner of a gym. It’s purpose-built for this sport. Training outdoors in Koh Samui’s heat adds another layer. It’s hot, it’s humid, and you will sweat more than you ever have in your life. But that’s actually a massive advantage. If you can race comfortably in 30-degree heat and 80% humidity, you’ll feel like a machine when you step into an air-conditioned arena on race day.

Billy Orr qualifies for the Hyrox World Championships

Our founder Billy Orr recently qualified for the Hyrox World Championships in Sweden. He doesn’t just coach this stuff — he competes at the highest level. That matters because it means the programming here isn’t guesswork. It’s built from real race experience and a genuine understanding of what it takes to perform when it counts.

Who trains with us

We get a real mix. Tourists passing through who want to keep their Hyrox training going while on holiday. Residents of Koh Samui looking for a proper training community. People who’ve signed up for their first race and need a structured programme to get them ready. And people who’ve never done a Hyrox event but love the format because it’s honest — there’s nowhere to hide, and you get out exactly what you put in. All levels are welcome. If you’re brand new, our coaches will scale the session for you and teach you the movements properly. If you’re experienced, you’ll find the intensity and the competition you’re after. The community here is strong — people push each other, cheer each other on, and stick around after class to talk about their times. It’s that kind of place.

Just show up to a 5:30pm session or send us a WhatsApp message if you want to check anything first. We offer daily drop-in rates, ten-class packs, and monthly memberships for anyone living on the island or staying longer term. If you’re coming to Lamai Fitness Retreat on a package, Hyrox classes are included in your schedule — your coach will work them into your weekly plan based on your goals.
